Alexander W. Gothard
Legion Counsel Manager, Alexander W. Gothard, has dedicated his legal career helping those who have suffered from the negligence of others.
Following graduation from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1985, Mr. Gothard held various business positions before deciding on a law career. Mr. Gothard obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1995, and began the practice of law in Chattanooga, Tennessee as an associate with the firm of Hatcher, Johnson & Meaney in 1996.
Before long, Mr. Gothard earned a position as partner and the firm became known as Hatcher, Johnson, Meaney & Gothard, PLLC.
In 2004, after nearly eight years with the firm, Mr. Gothard left to open his private practice.
Over the years, Mr. Gothard has represented clients injured by the negligence of others, including workers injured on the job; minors severely injured in automobile accidents; and the grieving family of a woman killed in a collision with a truck.
Mr. Gothard is a trained Rule 31 Mediator. In this role, he has helped other lawyers and their clients achieve a fair resolution of worker’s compensation claims.
Mr. Gothard is a proud member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum is limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of one million dollars or more.
Mr. Gothard is a dedicated professional and a member of the Tennessee Association for Justice, the Chattanooga Bar Association and the Chattanooga Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Gothard is married with three children. Outside the practice of law, Mr. Gothard serves his community as a member of the City Council. He has also served his church as a member of the Vestry and currently serves on the church Finance Committee.
